New Children’s Book Featuring Joey Ramone, ‘Gabba Gabba We Accept You,’ Set For Publication

A children’s book titled, Gabba Gabba We Accept You: The Wondrous Tale of Joey Ramone, is set to be released on June 27th via Drag City. The kids’ book is written by Jay Ruttenberg and illustrated by Lucinda Schreiber, and it captures the life story of punk rock icon and Ramones frontman, Joey Ramone. The book, which is currently available for pre-order, aims to inspire young readers to embrace uniqueness and individuality through the inspiring journey of the legendary musician. “My daughter just turned 11. It occurred to me that a lot of the life lessons I’ve been trying to teach her weren’t learned through my family or school, but through punk stuff,” Ruttenberg said. “The importance of being your own person, following your own radar. The Ramones, and in particular Joey, seemed like the perfect embodiment of that.” A Netflix movie titled, I Slept With Joey Ramone, is also in the works. The film is set to star Pete Davidson, and is based on the book by the punk legend’s brother, Mickey Leigh. (Consequence of Sound)
