Bright Eyes Forced To Cancel Record Release Shows And Riot Fest Appearance

Only one day before the September 20 release date of the new Bright Eyes album, Five Dice, All Threes, the band was forced to cancel a series of three record release shows promoting their album. Bright Eyes had a trio of shows planned to celebrate their album release in New York City, Chicago (at Riot Fest), and a hometown show in Omaha, Nebraska. Reports of the band’s warmup show in Cleveland earlier this week claim that frontman Conor Oberst was visibly intoxicated and forgot lyrics while not being able to play his guitar.

Bright Eyes announced their show cancellations on Instagram, writing, “We’re heartbroken to announce that our upcoming record release shows have been canceled. The warm up shows we played earlier this week resulted in Conor losing his voice and, on the advice of doctors, we’ve made the difficult but sensible decision to prioritize rest and recuperation for the remainder of the month. ‘Five Dice, All Threes’ is out on Friday and we couldn’t be more proud of it.” (Consequence of Sound)
