Def Leppard’s Rick Allen Still Processing “Very Traumatic” Assault Two Years Later

During a recent appearance on “Trunk Nation,” Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen revealed that he continues to grapple with the aftermath of a violent assault that occurred two years ago. The musician shared details of his ongoing struggle with trauma from the 2023 attack, a frightening incident where Allen was beaten by a 19-year-old assailant outside of a Fort Lauderdale hotel, severely hitting his head after being knocked to the ground. “Hopefully I can put it all behind me and I can just kind of get back to as normal as I could possibly be given the circumstances,” Allen said. “But that was very traumatic for me, and, yeah, it’s been difficult. But hopefully I can put it behind me soon.” Despite the challenges he faces, Allen remains committed to his role in Def Leppard, as the band prepares for their upcoming 2025 North American tour this summer, and their headlining set at the Rock the Tides destination festival this November in Mexico.
