They’ve got lots of fans,” said the 68-year-old former Sex Pistols’ bassist about the excitement surrounding the upcoming Oasis reunion gigs. But their music never really stood out to Matlock. “To hear one song once is enough. I just find them kind of samey.” The outspoken musician said he personally likes Noel Gallagher and thinks Liam “sings great – he’s like Johnny Rotten but can carry a tune” and has “a magnetic stage personality,” but overall he thinks “they’re boring live” and would “never go to see ‘em.” Matlock then revealed, “There was a bit of talk about me helping them out with bass a long time ago – in ’95, ’96.
