The Eagles’ Glenn Frey has died

Founding member of The Eagles and legendary guitarist, Glenn Frey, has died at the age of 67.

Frey and Don Henley started The Eagles after meeting during a gig backing Linda Ronstadt.  For much of the 1970’s Frey and the band ruled rock radio with a unique blend of harmony, intriguing lyrics and a warm Southern California sound that bridged Country and Rock.

The Eagles released the following statement on their website this afternoon:

“Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia. The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery. Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.”
